Fraser Coast Chronicle
Letter to the Editor
31 March 2006
Dear Editor,
No country has banned water fluoridation
I write to inform your readers that contrary to the statement by D Weymiens (Letters, March 29), no country has banned water fluoridation and the European Union allows fluoridation set at a maximum level of 1.5ppm.
More than 100 of the world’s leading health and scientific authorities including
Australian Medical Association; World Health Organisation; UK Medical Research Council; The Royal College of Physicians (UK); US-based Centers for Disease Control; American Medical Association; US Public Health Service; Australian Public Health Association and Queensland Health endorse fluoridation of water supplies as a safe and cost-effective public health measure.
It is nonsense to suggest crowns cost $12,000 per person. In reality those living in all other states but Queensland are less likely to have tooth decay and are therefore less likely to need crowns.
